An award-winning director/writer/actor, Robyn Paris has written and developed features, television, web series and Virtual Reality programming for numerous production companies. Robyn’s directing work has screened at Oscar-qualifying film festivals all over the world and generated press in Entertainment Weekly, The Huffington Post, The Hollywood Reporter, PopSugar and dozens of podcasts, including Entertainment Weekly Radio on Sirius XM, the Mike and Ming Show (AMC’s Comic Book Men), and Monocle (UK).
After a successful festival run, the 10-episode mockumentary series that Robyn created, directed and produced, THE ROOM ACTORS: WHERE ARE THEY NOW? (TRAWATN), premiered in partnership with Funny or Die (FOD) before launching on Amazon Prime. The series was “Top of the Feed” with Robyn heading up the “Creator Leaderboard” on Funny or Die for six weeks straight, with an overall “Funny” rating of 82%. Her series amassed 1M+ views and hundreds of positive comments.
THE ROOM ACTORS premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in London and went on to screen at dozens of prestigious film festivals, including HBO's ITVFest, HollyShorts, and the Chicago Comedy Film Festival where Robyn won the “Best Director” award. The series won numerous awards, including “Best Ensemble Cast”at HollyShorts and "Best Web Series" at the 2020 and 2018 LA Independent Film Festival.
Robyn wrote/directed a narrative short, FRUITLESS, which was scheduled to premiere at the Maryland Film Festival in 2020. FRUITLESS was an official selection at numerous virtual festivals in 2020, with plans for physical screenings in 2021.
As a writer, Robyn won the Samuel Goldwyn Screenwriting Award for her feature about a family raising a schizophrenic child. She also won the Harmony Gold Award, the Jack Nicholson Prize, the National Association of Theatre Owners of CA/NV Fellowship in Screening, Oliver's Prize in Screenwriting for Children and was a Humanitas Prize nominee. Her written work has placed at Austin, Screencraft, Page, Stage 32 and numerous other screenwriting competitions.
Robyn has an extensive background in crowdfunding on Kickstarter, where her series was featured as a "Staff Pick," "Projects We Love," and "New and Noteworthy." The film on which her series is based, THE ROOM, inspired a global cult following, and a major motion picture starring James Franco, THE DISASTER ARTIST. Robyn’s series stars nine of the original actors from THE ROOM, including Robyn, who plays the character of “Michelle” in THE ROOM. Robyn was portrayed by June Diane Raphael in THE DISASTER ARTIST.
Raised in Greensboro, NC, Robyn has an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA and a BA from Duke University. She was a manager at the prestigious Washington, DC consulting firm, The Advisory Board, before launching a career in entertainment, first as an improvisational actor. She performed improv on house teams and corporate shows with The Second City Chicago, Improv Olympic Chicago, IO West and The Groundlings.
